Danish designer Arne Jacobsen used the plywood chair designs of Charles Eames as inspiration and went on to develop the designs with which he is now associated ; notably the Myren chair of 1951. Comprising a simple structure of 3 legs and a flexible moulded seat the design sold by the million – Surprisingly this came at a time when the Scandinavian design trend was deeply rooted in craft based styles. Awareness of Industrial production, incorporated into product design continued into architectural design and furnishings. This move is seen in the Hotel Royal in Copenhagen in which Jacobsen produced designs for everything from furniture to furnishings.
